Prizewinners 2009
The School of Economic and Business Sciences’ Prize Giving breakfast was held on Thursday 21 May in the Bozzoli Hall, East Campus. Two hundred and twenty donor representatives, members of staff, prize winners and their guests attended the function.
The guest speaker, Mr Russell Loubser, CEO of the JSE Ltd, spoke about the global financial crisis and its impact on South Africa. The Economic Research Southern Africa (ERSA) prizes were handed to the prize winners by Professor Katherine Munro, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Law & Management. The School of Economic and Business Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand, wishes to express its gratitude to ERSA for its sponsorship of prizes for the top two students in each year of study of Economics.

Prizewinners 2008
Prize Giving was held on 16 May 2008 at the Wits Club. It took the form
of a breakfast. There were 160 guests - donors, prize winners with
their guests and members of staff. The guest speaker was Dr Iraj
Abedian of Pan-African Capital Holdings (Pty) Ltd. Dr Abedian handed
out the ERSA prizes on ERSA's behalf. Our head of school, Professor
Anthony Lumby, made special mention of the ERSA prizes, noting that it
was the first time that they were being awarded and expressing his
gratitude to ERSA for making it possible to recognize the achievements
of the top two economics students in each year of study. Michele
Maraschin and Christopher Redl are associate lecturers in the School of
Economic and Business Sciences whilst studying for a Masters in
Economics.
